In this game I played recently as White, Stockfish recommends that Black moves their King out of check  to H8  ???  thats immediate mate by White next move ??  Is Stockfish crazy or am I missing something ?

I sometimes wonder about stockfish - in a recent game I had this position on move 8, my opponent went ...Qe6, meriting the stockfish response "Qe6 is good, they move the Queen to safety"

However, my next move is Nxc7+ which wins his Queen. So not really moving his Queen to safety...

Thats not Stockfish though, thats the strange review of chess.com, which gives absurd comments like that.

Ah, I thought the chess.com analysis used the stockfish engine... Usually I find the chess.com analysis helpful and accurate, but every now and again it makes, as you say, absurd comments.

A few years ago I was using it to analyse a 3-day game and it kept telling me that my moves were bad and inaccuracies or something. But if you followed the recommended moves, the result was a forced draw whereas my moves led to a forced win.

In another game though, I couldn't find the win and it found it. I drew but stockfish would have won. This was a more active, tactical position, wherea the one it got wrong was very positional and passive-looking.

It does. Both analysis and game review use Stockfish to analyse your games on chess.com, according to this article:

https://www.chess.com/terms/stockfish-chess-engine#analyze

Whether chess.com just copy-paste the Stockfish source code and use that on their website; or they modify the source code from the original, and use that to analyse games: That's hard to say.

The official Stockfish website can be found here: https://stockfishchess.org/
