Great topic because you knew what they did wrong, but didn’t know how to correctly go about exploiting that error. The answer is NOT to just attack their queen a bunch. It’s true that sometimes gaining tempo and tempo by this works, but there’s other positions where you’ll just want to ignore their useless queen move. I’ll annotate your game and then you can watch a video I have which reveals when to attack their queen and when not to :)
Stupid One Move Queen Attacks Analysis???
Thank you very much Kaiba. I read everything and watched your video. I agree with you. My main issue though was the G2 Square attacking my rook. What would I need to do? You said attack with the Knight on F3, but can't he just take my G2 pawn? I understand I could move the king, but then I would lose my castling rights. That's mainly why I moved my queen to D3, yes it blocks my knight. It was the only move I could think of and I was also worried about a possible bad pawn structure. A lot of the time if I don't get perfect king safety I feel like I'm going to lose no matter what I do. My question is, should I not worry about losing my ability to castle in this particular situation? Just play and play Knight F3?
Maybe my pgn diagram wasn't clear with the text, but within the clutter of text, I already included a variation for if their queen captures g2. If you go to that move and play Nf3 …Qxg2, then you can see the rest of the variation using the pgn diagram arrows to click through.
As for the psychology of how to allow these moves and worry about castling or not, I may create a video topic out of this if you would like. :)

Ok. If you made a video that would be great! Thank you. ![]()

Oh, I did not know you had alternat moves to click on. Sorry I missed that. These queen attacks just make me paranoid sometimes. O.O
I also get paranoid with queen attacks, especially with a very open position, but as long as you know everything is defended and they don't have anything clear it's generally safe to put your focus elsewhere. It can take a while to get used to and be comfortable with

Or just sacrifice the queen :D

I just noticed the video you posted of my game! Thank you!! You addressed it in a way that I needed.
Oh, thank you so much! I am a beginner and tempo in game fears me the most, such queen attacks look frustrating, you think you did a terrible mistake and now opponent exploits it. Trying to cover unreal holes I only loose material.

Most chess players can’t optimally exploit small positional weaknesses like holes, or weak squares. That’s something you really only see at the 1600+ level (estimate). As for early queen attacks, that’s something you see pretty much as soon as you get into chess because it’s a phase just about every chess player seems to go through. Either that or pushing pawns too much.
Watch the video I linked about about stopping early queen attacks. I also have another more in-depth video on early queen attacks if you go to my channel and search my “oldest” because my first YouTube only video was about that topic.

Can anyone look at this game in full for me? I won, but this guy was making me rage so much I about went agro. Is there a better way to punish stupid queen attacks like this more effectively? How can someone who breaks every chess principle give someone a run around with single queen moves? He literally did not develop at all and I was having a hard time kicking his queen tell I decided to counter attack aggressively. I literally had to use a brilliant move to win. I couldn't even find ways to stop his queen from infiltrating my side of the board??
