This annoyed me - looking for explanation

Atos, get off my skirt already. You're like a dog that won't let go. Ever since I told you that you're illogical, you've been chasing around my comments to try to get your bitterness out.

I'll spell it out for you: I don't think those of us who are playing around the 1500 range need to bother with worrying about cheaters. Waste of energy. Got it? Good.

I am not sure what it means to 'get off your skirt' I am not interested in you in any way whatsoever and I find you a bore who has nothing to say worthwhile reading.

This is going to get good.

Atos...I'm glad you perceive me as a bore with "nothing to say worthwhile reading".  Do us both a favor and don't read my posts.

Notice how once I identified you as an illogical fuzzy-brained individual, I never respond to any of your posts in any thread.  Take the hint and do likewise.

Surely you are not just practicing your cheating and asking for pointers on how to hide better.

Definitely not - I was NOT cheating in any way - but my highly ranked opponent got very abusive, accused me of having no morals or conscience, and continued to insist that he knew I was using a chess engine. I am just at a loss to know why he started thinking that and insisted on maintaining his stance. In the end I just resigned - I don't even think I was in any danger of winning the game!

I just posted here in the heat of the moment because I was really offended by his attitude :(

I said, "Surely..."  Here's my point.  Set yourself free by choosing to experience no offense and sad faces - especially since the complainer was probably just projection his own cheating side onto you.  Choose.  You don't seem to be the type of guy who deserves a bad experience, so don't use his words to give it to yourself.

Thanks - best advice given here! Probably shouldn't even have posted here without more reflection!

Just ran the chess.com analysis on the game - irony of all appears to be that white used the 'Mason Attack' - which I'm afraid I didn't even know existed - and is my surname!

...and, back on topic, from the analysis, my opponents problems started not through any cunning chess engine derived moves by me but when he played 27.Qxg8+?? instead of Qg7+ - which I think someone mentioned before...

This is nothing. I was recently accused of cheating in an ICC blitz game (as if I'd have time to check a computer program at that speed), because I hung a piece, but my opponent walked into checkmate. He thought I must have cheated to swindle him out of the win that way. And I really suck at playing that fast - my blitz rating there is under 1200.

I'm with AfafBouardi on this one. It's not worth worrying about cheaters. I play chess to have fun. I like to win and improve. So if I lose, it means I made a mistake that I can learn from. I review the game afterward and improve. It doesn't matter to me if the opponent who capitilized on my mistake is human or machine.

And when someone accuses me of cheating, I usually just laugh at them.

To be honest, if this had come from a 'normal' player I probably would have done - but I really wasn't expecting it from a titled player who must be so much better and confident at the game than I am.

I think for the 2000 plus players, I can understand.  They perhaps make few mistakes and it's completely unfair if they come up with a lovely combination or see a few moves deep to do something awesome...and the opponent is really a 2500 strength computer which just calculates it out whereas an opponent would have had a hard time seeing the beautiful maneuver.

I could see that being frustrating.

You could see something outside your limited perspective ? I doubt it.

Amanultra

in the final position you could have a draw by perpetual no? and what about Qxg5+ Rxg5 Rxg5 with a likely draw.

Amanultra

apparently i am blind. Rxg5 wins. And you resigned the position? I would have disabled chat and carried on.

Atos, if you're going to stalk my posts...we're going to have a bigger problem than your ego... I recommend you run along.

Don't you dare accusing me of stalking, you know very well that you are lying. And don't make threats either.

costelus

Now I undestand the motivation of this thread: the person who accused Ian of cheating is a titled player (NM). Well Ian, don't be too upset, if someone is good at chess it doesn't mean he cannot be a jerk. On another hand, I am puzzled to see that a 2200+ ELO player is unable to spot the huge, decisive mistakes made by both sides in this game. Honestly, at first I thought that this is a one minute game!

Maybe your opponent had a bad day and got upset without reason?

JG27Pyth

Qg7+! is a wonderful move -- too bad he didn't find it. He had a won game more than once and was making a complete hash of it. You shouldn't have resigned the game! Don't let folks like that win -- it only encourages them to continue their unpleasant ways. I think you would be within your rights to contact the admins and say you think the game should be nullified or drawn or reset and you'll play it out from the resignation position. IMO It's not fair that you be harassed and insulted out of a game.

Ok. Calm down people. I have been asked to adjudicate this little riff. After careful review and deliberation my decision is that Atos is indeed stalking and should immediately cease and desist from such bad behavior.

bondiggity

Whoever accused you of cheating is just upset after losing, since they were crushing you for a good 20 moves.

White's first big mistake seems to be 21. Ng5 as 21...Ng2+ would pick up the rook with check. However your "engine" didn't pick up on this.

27. Qxg8 was the turning point, 27. Qg7+ could have gotten an endgame a piece up.

After that you played the endgame extremely well, correctly stopping his h-pawn and then using your queen to get some forks in. Nice job

Kernicterus

Is this a chess.com game?

Hm I suppose this is some kind of joke though not a very good one.
