i am a painter and a cook, but if i understand your question correctly, i would say that there are many artists in general that enjoy this game, but i would not say majority of chess players are artists in that sense....so my answer is no.

That is definitely true. 2009 = 7^2 x 41 while 2024 = 2^3 x 11 x 23. If we were to test if the Collatz's Conjecture are true for these two numbers, 2024 might be easier since we can get down to 11 x 23 really fast. But I have no clue how many irritations will take each of them to get to 1.

(if you’re only including visual art, then no because most people wouldn’t consider themselves visual artists, and probably wouldn’t be much more of less than general population. if you are ascribing the term artist to someone you could argue just about anyone is an artist. If you mean the arts in general, I would argue most people have at least one hobby that could be understood as art. Chess is mathematics, much like how music theory is mathematics too, maybe chess players would be more likely to be interested in playing/understanding music.)
