Tips for getting brilliant moves!

A brilliant move is a move which chess.com engine considers very good, usually sacrifices and rarely counter-intuitive moves. But how to get one?

  • Try searching for sacrifices that have no short-term compensation (even though I have seen brilliant moves with short-term compensation);
  • Try getting a position in which you have all of your pieces developed and your opponent is playing passively;
  • Focus on your opponent’s king; there is no piece that has more value than it.

Remember, not all of the sacrifices will work, unless there is a reasonable response from your opponent that can make the game last 3 times longer.
