This happnens constantly to me, I play myself into an advantageous position but then suddenly get stuck not knowing how to play the correct continuation
Can you help me with the following game:

Today I played a 20 minute game at flyordie with someone rated a lot higher than me. Here was my train of thought. I played well against a higher rated opp, albeit inaccurately at times in hindsight as my opponent forced a trade of my queen on move 17. On my 20th move I am faced with a decision to make and decide to trade g pawns before reclaiming the d pawn.
By move 22 material is still even however I am in a better position as I control the centre of the board. Not too sure how to play here. I decide maybe b4, threatening b5 and if my opponent moves his knight to e7 then i can respond with Nf6+! winning the rook. Opp will have to move his knight to either b8 or a5, freeing the e5 square for my other knight in the future.
So now its move 24, black's kight has moved to a5 and I'm really having trouble finding a move now! If Ne5, threatening Nxf7, after f6 I'm forced to move back to maybe g4, but then what I can't see anything there. If only the bishop wasn't protecting the f6 square I could fork the king and rook, but alas.
I also realise at this point opp intends to play c6 next, either kicking my knight away from d5 or repositioning his knight at c6 again. I saw that after c6, the d6 square would be open for my knight to access after Ne5 f6 Nf7 forking both rooks. So off I play Nf4, preparing Ne5 after c6. However I failed to see Bc7!
Another long think, I waste a move playing Rf1, in the hope that opp doesn't capture on e5 with his bishop. Anyways by now I'm short of time because I wasted all my time trying (and failing) to find the correct moves and blundered abruptly on move 31, having wasted my position
Anyways I'd appreciate it if you are reading this to provide input on my game and how to play these types of positions which I always seem to stuff up.
