Hallo Everyone,

I am beginner but quite enthusiastic chess player.

Today I played as Black in a match with an opponent who played quite strange. Both of us made stupid mistake, in particular I gave up a Queen for no reason.

I am just curious if at the end of the match I could have won or the draw was the best I could achieve.

I thank you in advance for the interesting comments

P.S. I wanted to analyse in the App but the Oppenent ask for new match and I had no time

Pretty close. I think black is at a slight disadvantage, but I'm a beginner also. Black has a pawn advantage though, and the white rook in the corner seems inactive.

You should be looking at  earlier moves also.

On his 20th move White should play 20. Rxe8ch  Rxe8  21. dxc6 and then White is up a whole queen.

However you were correct to force a draw in the end game.

Was this a fast play game??

Actually it was not a fast game but my opponent was 100 points higher than me and so I played very conservative at the beginning. At the end i thought I could even won but the rook in the 1. Row scared me so i decided to play for draw

Justs you are completely right. I know I make mistakes before and after 12. It is just that I spent the t 5 min of the match at 27. Looking for a better move. I just wonder if i oversaw a mate...

27. ... Be4 would have won White's Queen for your Bishop (unless I'm missing something). After that I wouldn't want to be playing the White side of the game. I'm only a 1400 (by the skin of my teeth) though, I could easily be missing something. Smile

And it's a lot easier to find a move in a game I'm not playing. Wink

I saw that move during the game and I tought that It was a winning move. what will happend after 31. Ke1 Rdc2. Black will be threatening ... Rb1+ Qd1 Rxd1...

27. Be4 !!! Yes i think it is not a mate but i see no way to save the Old Lady, too. It is not a direct mate but probably a big advantage. Thabks a lot!

Then black is winning the rook endgame. So the king has to go back to d1, then it's a draw.

Thank you very much for the explenation. Anyhow Ke1 would be a White move, i searched a good move for Black... and 27... Be4 sound logical. I

Overseen the same kind of move in the next game

Yes, 27 ... Be4 is totally winning and you missed it.

I can explain why I missed. I won a couple of matches with 2 Rooks in the 2. Row... So i paid much more attention on putting the 2 rook into the action rather the look the whole picture. It is something i have definetely improve!

JJZ03

You know who needs to improve? Me.

Chess combinations seem to be your weakest point, so suggest you study them and also the very basic end games. Your opening was ok.

Studying complete games is ok also.

One thing you could do is to ask a stronger player to go over your game or games to point out your mistakes. When you learn your mistakes--after a while you will avoid more and more mistakes.

Thank you very much ponz. usually after the match with the App, i go back and analyze all the moves to see what I did not seen or trying something else. The match I posted was not one of my best ones, I see lot of mistakes I did.

For example at 27. I was thinking about a win with my rooks on a2 and b2 and the king stuck in a1. It happened to me before or at least the app had shown me how to get to that position. I think in this case it is not possible because Black can not threat Rook in the 1. Row due to the White Rook in a1.

I apprecciate very much your comment, the advices, the nice moves (27. .. Be4) and the fact that none insultated me for blunder in 12. loosing the Quuen.
