agreed, Rh7 and push the a-pawn. the black rook can't leave the h-file without hanging the h-pawn, so it isn't queening. The a-pawn gives counter play, so the black king can't advance on the rook. looks at least drawn for white, depending on your opponent.
Was there a way to win this
You love exchanging pieces, often for no strategic or tactical reason whatsoever. Paying more attention to your position would help get you into a better end-game, one you may be able to win.
I guess would like to mess his pawn structure with 21.dxc6 (black's is already messed)
Not that it is a good move or anything, I just think I would do this when get this situation on the board.
Wow such a responce, what a great community Chess.com has. Thanks
Guolin you're right i do love to exchange pieces, and maybe too often. I am however a new player as my rating lets on lol, and still learning much about the game. I am not the greatest yet at knowing when the exchange is beneficial and have been thwarted in many a game by the evil screen lol. I thank you for your criticism. :)
I like the 37. Rh7 might have given me a draw, as i don't get to endgame every game its not natural yet to see all the possibilties open to me. It's funny you would think with fewer pieces on the board the choices would be easier lol.
NM tonydal looking at it i agree that Nf4 looks to be the safer spot, but while playing i was blind sighted by the rook split that was one more bounce away. Hopefully with lots more practise i will be able to analyze my games better. Thank you to who commented I really appreciate your advice and criticisms.
Thanks Darryl :)
Hi, My name is Darryl, and untill very recently i had never been serious about chess. A friend of mine Jocko58 turned me onto chess, being a competitive person losing was driving me crazy lol, so i began studying and playing on chess.com. I looked at this game a few times now, but can't see a positive outcome for me in the end game. Any comments or criticisms would be very help ful thanks!
