perhaps 4.Bg4 or Bf5 was better ...getting the light-square bishop out beforedefending the d pawn

Second game posted here, hopefully not as bad as the awful first one I posted where by rights I should have been 2 pieces down by about move 10, but my opponent missed it.
I played black.
I feel I should definitely have lost the game, however a last minute blunder by my opponent gifted me a checkmate.
How did I get into such a bad situation?
