It's not unusual. I'd been playing chess for about three years before I learned the rule. I learned about it when I was trying to solve a puzzle.

Are there more weird unusual moves I should be aware of? xD well I guess most casual players come to learn this move the hard way😁

Oh yes en passant should absolutley be legal.

Its super important to have.

It avoids you getting an easy card out of the consequences if you allow your opponent to progress their pawn this far.
