Where can I find analysis "move decoder"

I am new to the area...I do the training puzzles & occasionally, (unsuccessfully as of yet) go to look @ the game move analysis code strings....

Without any guidance, I intuit they represent:

  • On game piece movement exchaqnge #51
  • If this piece moves here
  • then here are the best or most probable moves that would follow such a sequence.

If that is correct, what does the string of letters that precede each line signify?

Where in this site do I find a guide for how to utilize this data....Thanks.."oka"

Could you post a clearer or possibly example (String of letters ?) of what didn't make sense?

32. ...Nxg5

({12:+4.96} 32. ... Nxg5 33. Nxg5 Rf6 34. Ke1 Bf7 35. Nh7 Re8 36. Nxf6+ Bxf6 37. Qh6 e3 38. f4 Bg7 39. Qg5 $18)
({12:+2.26} 32. ... Kf7 33. Nxg7 Bd7 34. Ne6 Rh8 35. Qg2 Qxf2 36. Qxf2 Rxh1+ 37. Ng1 Rxg1+ 38. Ke2 Rxb1 39. Bxb1 Bxe6 40. dxe6+ Kxe6 $18)
({12:+8.13} 32. ... Nh4 33. Qxh4 Kf7 34. Qh7 Rg8 35. Rh6 Ke7 36. Nxg7 Bf7 37. Nxf5+ gxf5 38. Qxf5 Ke8 39. Bxe4 $18)

What are the Red text examples representing?...Each string with the #32 behind them...Is that representing 3 different alternate piece moves & the probable-or-best subsequent moves to follow ?

Why the 12: then 3 different +#'s?

The 12 is 12 ply (6 moves for White, 6 moves for Black) that the computer has thought ahead.  The numbers are the evaluation of the position. +4.96 means that White is equivalent to a rook up (a rook having a value of ) if 32...Nxg5 is played.  White is 2.26 pawns up if 32...Kf7 is played.  White is almost a queen up (queen being worth 9 points) if 32...Nh4 is played.  The $18 is a numeric annotation glyph (NAG) which means White has a decisive advantage (+-).

Thanks for that.....So am i right with this summation:   Each of the several - such - lines of that nomenclature beneath the sequential numbers & period,.....Each of those lines represent an alternative sequence of game finishing moves?

Thank you again...

I've seen these a bunch of times and never had a clue what they were.  Thanks for clearing that up!  Smile
