Make lots of chess problems.
I suggest you use the "stappen methode".
http://www.stappenmethode.nl/
This method teaches you tactics which is the decisive factor at your level.
At first it teaches you patterns of seeing simple forks (dubbele aanval) and skewers (penningen). Then as your level increases you can start on a higher level of this method which again teaches these things but in a complexer way.
For instance at stap 1 you would get a problem like:
Mate in on move.
And then at stap 2 you would get problems like:
Mate in two moves.
I recommend this since it is a much used method here in the Netherlands.
Hey guys,
I'm not kinda new, even though I haven't introduced before. I need some chess help. I suck. Like, really suck. I've played chess countless times in my life, even though I'm 14, and yet I always manage to mess up. I've only won a couple of times and that was against not-so good opponents (well, I'm not gonna judge them, since I suck aswell). I even lose to the computer on Easy and Silly. I really like this game, so I'd really love to get better at it. So my question is, where to start? Openings? Tactics?
I'd appreciate an answer. Thanks a lot in advance!
