Why did white resign?

As you can see he is up a pawn and in prime position to castle long side. I was thinking of my response and suddenly he resigned :S

White may have resigned because he realized that 11.bxc3 was a huge mistake.  Instead, 11.Qxc6+ Bd7 12.Qxc3 and White is up a piece and a pawn.  Black can safely resign there.

In an online game, you can never tell why a player resigns.  Maybe he suddenly had to go to the bathroom.  Maybe his cat needed attention.  Maybe his dinner was burning, and set off the smoke alarm.  Maybe the doorbell rang. 

He could have resigned for a hundred different reasons.

Yes I was fearing that dreadful check from him. Thankfully he just recaptured with his pawn and not the queen.

I meant to ask if there is something in the game which gives me a big edge which made him feel hopeless and he gave up on his chances of winning. Of course real life issues can be infinite. So my question "why?" was limited to reasons in chess, not real life.

Why care? Move to another game. If its not obvious to you its probably not a game reason why they quit.
