Would you have offered draw as I did?

I, playing white, offered the draw.  We were so evenly matched that I didn't think either could force the other into an unacceptable position.

Out of curiosity, does the openning and mid-game that I played have any name (i.e. Sicilian)?

You did okay, looks like a tough ending.

Anything I could have done better?

Black played the Benko Gambit.

I think you played great, I wouldn't have guessed your rating at 1492.

Thank you for the compliment.  I used to be higher (1559 I think) but I went on a sad losing streak over the summer, just playing horrible.  I have to play distraction free or I stink.  Between a puppy, kid, and wife, distraction free chess doesn't always happen.

mottsauce

that was a very strong game by you!  I personally liked 16. Nfd4.  nice job.

ButWhereIsTheHorse

IM HIGHER THAN YOU WEEEEEEE!

Defacto

Tesla pipe down....;)

I would like white in thatposition better.

I think white has the advantage here because the two pawns are "outside
connected passed pawns" and material would be exactly even.
What would be the risk to you if you had continued?  Very little, as black would
have spent his time defending those pawns.  Also, it would have been great
endgame practice.

I would have perhaps offered a draw, but I wouldn't have accepted it.

Well, understandable draw offer. It's a very tough endgame. maybe (most probably) just a draw with good play.

The only downside to it is that the only side who can really lose this with normal (not necessarily best) play is black (the pawns being connected, and thus strong, and with the black king far away so they have time to advance), so usually playing on for a few extra moves doesn't hurt in my opinion.

The draw offer in itself is definitely a legit one:)

Very good game.

Personally, I believe black would have done great defending the d6 pawn (Rad8) instead of castling.

There were only a couple of serious errors on your part (that I could see), and they came in quick succession:

After 18...Rab8 19.Ra1d1 seems to be like a very good idea. The problem with the move you played: 19.Qxa7(??), is that black could play 19...Qe7, and the pin pretty much wins the game for black.

Black's 19...Nd4-b5 (??) is probably another blunder which seems to be refuted by 20.Qa5, which threatens the knight and protects the bishop (by threatening the other black rook), and let white emerge with a most probably winning position.

20.Ba6 is a really big error, which can be punished by 20...Qxf1+, which would leave black a whole rook ahead.

21.Qb6 seems to be a good move letting white emerge with his two extra passers and a winning position.

So it seems that both players suffered a loss of concentration near the end of an otherwise very good game.

Well played.
