12 move checkmate

This game was played between myself and a classmate of mine for game one of the residence hall chess tournament.  A longer variation ended up being game three.  We were wondering if this is a famous game, or type of checkmate that we stumbled upon.  Any help in this matter would be welcome.

I love miniatures, this is not the best one I have seeing, black made several mistakes, to the point that I am thinking if this can be consider a help-mate.

Nice game, but what is the rating of Black ?

Neither I nor my opponent were rated at the time, but I would say that we were roughly evenly matched.  Also, I am not 100% sure that this is the correct sequence of black's moves, but this was the board at the end of the first game
