1600 rated player hung a piece on move 6*

I thought by 1600 you would know that 2. f6 is a bad move...
*Technically the blunder was not on move 6, (it was really a combination of several mistakes from moves 2, 3 and 4), but I did take the piece on move 6.
theres a 2200 uscf player that plays 2. ... f6 i believe, there was a post by a cc official blogger about that

But why? Stockfish gives white a +2 advantage, and black can't even take back the pawn.

This is practically a bluff opening. A bad gambit where you sacrifice a pawn for nothing and try to win back the lost tempo by chasing the knight.
Interesting stuff:
"Robert McGregor played the Damiano in a 1964 simultaneous exhibition against Bobby Fischer, and drew."
This McGregor was a good club player who tried to look like a beginner to gain a psychological advantage.

Well....he hung it on move 3 he just didn't know it.
Also it was an exchange, not a full piece.
