Well played!

Just one question...on move 25, do you mean White is a knight and pawn down in the endgame?

Congratulations, a very alert move leading to a completely won ending.

i'm missing the queen sac...i see the trade of N+R+Q for a R+Q, but that's it

Avatar of master_in_panama

well, its only a temporary queen sac. that wins a knight...so i call it queen sac ;)

and by the way...still, im sacrificing the queen for a knight and later on im gettin my queen back ;)

and another thank you...:)

Probably no queen sac at all, temporary or otherwise, just winning the knight. The "continuation" is possibly the worst line. More likely is:

White is probably better off not allowing the exchange of queens, but IS down material unless black blunders.

1. Sorry, forgot to click "insert," then kept messing up the edit. It should display and work now.

2. Temporary sac (or delayed exchange) only if white accepts.

Good game. But you and your opponent both missed 7. e5 with a good position for White. Black has to wriggle out of the pin with 7... h6 8. Bxf6 gxf6 9. Bxc4 and White has the upper hand. Watch out for pins with a pawn nearby - threatening a pinned piece with a pawn can be dangerous.

hm...yea, ur right steevemartunes...thanks for the advice!

you should have played ...b5 or ...c6 or ...a6 in the opening... Bb4 is okay because you never EVER put the knight on c6 without your c-pawn on c5 in a queen's gambit

I just flicked through the game, but one thing I'll mention is that leaving your Queen on the same file as his Rook for so long could have been a disaster!

Bur_oak ... I think the worst continuation for Wt, and so best for BL is the alternate line you give 1...Rxd8. As a technical matter, I agree with you that it is not much harder and perhaps easier to Win the ending with Rooks on. But the point is, with all the Majors off and only N and Pawns, there is no way BL can possibly LOSE unless he has a heart attack. (It is almost impossible for WT to even create a single significant threat of winning. What might be the simplest way for a WT swindle? Well he somehow has to induce BL to let him create an outside passed pawn on the Q-side, Rook pawns being the hardest for a N to stop alone, with the K and N so distant they could not stop it. Of course WT can neither create any passer or even win a pawn forcibly. )

I think it fair to call it a Queen sac, for it is offered up for a lesser piece. Even tho things work out in the end better for BL ... how many times is a Queen sac EVER offered that does NOT, if sound. There just are not so many "specualtive Queen sacs" !  Laughing
