This isn't new by any means, but I was extremely amused to encounter it in a recent game. I hope others enjoy it as much as I did!

Thanks for those extra lines. Interesting that that his 0-0-0/e6 thing was just move order and not a massive clanger like it felt at the time. And it's funny how people look at easy checkmates differently. The checkmate lines I had in mind were:

  • 19 ... Kd8 20. Rxd5+ exd5 21. Qc7+ Ke8 22. Re1+ Be7 23. Qxe7#
  • 19 ... Kd8 20. Rxd5+ Ke7 21. Bg5+ f6 22. Qd7#
  • 19 ... Ke7 20. Rxd5 exd5 21. Re1+ Kd8 22. Re8#
  • 19 ... Ke7 20. Rxd5 Kf6 21. Qe3+ Kg6 22. Nh4#
  • 19 ... Ke7 20. Rxd5 Kf6 21. Qe3+ Ke7 22. Bg5+ f6 23. Qc7+ e8 24. Qd7#
  • 19 ... Ke7 20. Rxd5 Rc8 21. Bg5+ f5 22. Qd7#
  • 19 ... Ke7 20. Rxd5 Rb7 21. Bg5+ f5 22. Qxb7+ Ke8 23. Qd7#
