Advanced Fianchetto

Disabling its opening book enabled me to play a fun game of chess against the Crafty computer program. Playing black, Crafty brought its queen out early, and I gained the advantage by chasing the queen around while developing my position. I was able to eschew castling and bring about my innovation, the advanced fianchetto of my king's bishop on f3, instead of the usual g2, at move 20. This enabled me to initiate an attack on Crafty's king along the h file, spearheaded by my intrepid rook's pawn. It was checkmate at move 36, but Crafty could have resigned honorably on move 31, instead of trading its errant queen for my king's bishop.

I entered comments in the game editor, but for some reason, they don't appear.

You did more than turn off its opening book. You took out its brain.

What else did you turn off?
