Well it was different... although I reckon Black was just bored and thought he'd see what he could get away with!

The original GBM title was bestowed upon Lenny Bongcloud by the Emperor of Ethiopa in the "Jah Rasta Dueds" tournament of 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica. Other GBM titles are earned by achieving three or more GBM norms (earned by achieving a tournament performance rating of 2600 or more with at least one other GBM or by getting the king to the other side against Lenny in a single game [much the more difficult option]). I don't know if anybody else has earned the GBM title yet though.

Although not a Grand Bong Master, per se, I believe Timmaylivinalie's achievement of a chess.com rating of 0 is a low high point or high low point (depending on your perspective) which will forever remain ununsurpassed in the annals of something or other. 

Zero is so arbitrary, though Given that the Elo system is basically logarithmic, negative ratings should be quite achievable. If you can manage to lose 9 out of 10 games to this fellow, you could shoot for minus 400!

Black ran out of time because, having played the ultra-sharp Queen Sac Bongcloud, he wimped out and retreated his King to the third rank, and was so disgusted he didn't know how to continue and fix this basic error.  Still, kudos to him for trying out such a tricky line.

I like five minute games because half the art is getting ahead on the clock and staying there.  I sometimes throw a technically unsound move in just to throw an opponent off.  I'll see the clock tick down twenty seconds while they wonder what the hell I'm doing and that's often all the advantage I need.  I've been caught out a bunch of times too though!
