Yes, such is the power of the double-check. Renaud wrote an entire chapter on it in his book Art of the Checkmate, and this is why.
Nice game, beautiful checkmate, and the missed mate in two is hard to see (I missed it until I read mate in two). But, the missed mate is, again, a testament to the power of the double check.
