Blind Fold match

Played a friend of mine at chess team practice yesterday. To make it a fair game I played blind folded and won! It was my first game played blind folded under pressure (Chess coach was there and the rest of the chess team). It was a long game (for a practice match) going over one hour and a half. Needless to say I am very proud!

Just another accoplishment on my road to mastership.

Congratulations! That is a great accomplishment and a great game. I had a similar experience a couple of years ago and can really relate to your excitement over your victory.

Cheers

After move 13, you can win his bishop which is trapped with ...g5, as the counterattack g4 is no longer a possibility with the bishop off of f5. Also, I think that if 19...Qd3, white would have been better (assuming that you still don't notice the winning off the bishop with g5)

All-in-all, congrats. Playing blindfolded ain't easy!

I've never tried to play blindfold chess, but I'm convinced I would totally suck at it.  I know my memory well enough to know that I would have no idea where everything is after about 6 moves.

Well done!

It's easier than you'd think! With your online rating being what it is, just think about how many different series of moves/opening variations are stored in your brain. Chess players, in general, have an incredible memory for chess related stuff - short, or long term. I encourage you to try blindfold chess and be amazed at your newfound powers.

For anyone with the blindfold urge, just starting out with 5 sound-ish moves would be a good first step. Build on that and you're on your way. Maybe even blindfold blitz. How's that sound?
