this would have been nicer if it wasn't in puzzle form
checkmate with a knight and a rook
This reminds me of the time I first sacrificed my queen to mate with two knights. Although I had a mate in one before I sacked my queen, I thought it would be a lot more fun.
I thought my opponent would knight and rook mate me but he was luckily dumb as flip and I beat him with four queens
If you have a knight (and rook) it's even easier, but it's more complicated, just use the king and rook
what you did is fine tho
In theory, you can checkmate with just a rook and the king (I think it's easier). For the knight, I find interesting the knight + bishop checkmate pattern.
here is game I recently did play. I would never have known how to mate with rook and knight without becoming chessdotcom member, and watching video that is provided.. I mean it, they don't make me say it.
