From's Gambit Miniature

This is a game I played as Black with the From's Gambit that reminds us to think about what we are leaving behind as we are considering a move.

It shows what I was leaving behind when considering a move, and it also shows my costly hastiness.

Hey KillaBeez, I know that was a lovely game, but maybe you also ought to consider the Nf6 lines...they are better in the long run if you are playing someone with a higher rating...just an idea...

But great job on capitalizing on their "BirdBrain" mistakes! :-)

The Nf6 line is definitely the soundest and best.  I wanted to give g5 a try because it gives me a whole bunch of tactical possibilities.  But thanks for the reccommendation.

You spelled recommendation wrong.

Lol who cares who spelled what wrong?  You were able to read what he wrote.  Wouldn't it be more productive to spend time helping him instead of sending him to grammar.com...or is it grammer.com?  Jeez, I jus't can't remimber anytang anymor! :-)

Killa, you are right, the g5 line is pretty crazy...here is a recommendation from me...don't play the "line".  Here's an idea from me.  Let his knight stay on h4, and he'll have to work a new path.  The thing about the From's g5 is, well, it's not a good line.  But that is if both parties know the main line.  But there, we are talking about main lines.  g5 isn't bad if you are willing to venture into new territory.  Here it works like a charm, but if you play the main line as White correctly...

I was aware that the position you gave was the mainline.  My opponent normally does not play this opening, so he was unfamiliar with the theory.  He did remarkably well with what he knew, but made a careless mistake that cost him the game.  Thanks a lot for your imput!
