This game was one of many battles over the years between Mohan Nayak and Bryan Cohen.  This back and forth clash was decided in typical Mohan style, a disregard for his material focusing more on positional gains, or in this case his opponent's king!

This game was from the West Orange CC Championship 1987 Reserve Section. The time control was 40/90, 30/60 (Our club still had adjournments in those days!). This game shows that Mohan knew how to play defence if he had to. He played a particularly good positional sacrifice on his 20th move. Here is the game with minimal notes from Mr. Hagerty.

The following game has been submitted by John M. Hagerty.  Although this game ended in a draw its status as a "moral victory" for Mohan has enabled it to appear in this forum of Mohan Nayak Nice Wins!

The following game was a hard fought one with Mohan.  My old nemesis, the clock, reared its ugly head yet again with me having less than a minute (again! - see game in previous comment) to make ten moves.  Because of that pressure, I succumbed to a draw by repetition of position.  But give Mohan credit for weathering the storm and giving me a headache that lasted 3 days!  The time control was 40/90, 30/60.  We still had adjournments even as late as 2006 if not even later!  Here is the game with minimal notes from me (with the help of the Houdini 4 analysis program).

In my opinion, Mohan had to be one of the toughest fighters I ever had to face not only in the club but in outside tournaments as well. It`s games like these that show how a "sudden death" time control can affect one`s play. I might have actually handled the last few moves in a better fashion in that case.
