Never to Early 4 Tactics

I often find in online games early decisive tactics exist that many are not looking for at that stage of the game.  Here I have an early mate following an early Knight Sacrifice.  i had assumed black to play after 11...Kg8 12...Ne7.  My reason for posting is I'd like if someone can, tell me if the sacrifice and early attack was a correct attempt or foolish had black played correctly.  If after 12. Bg6 Ne7 13. Bf7+ Kh7  I had planned 14. Bg5 attacking the Knight on e7 and with pawns or possibly a rook lift..

What if 12...Be7  13. Bf7+  Kf8

well at least I win the pawn on e6 and then have a mating threat on f7, as I said I did not expect to be immediately decisive.  I just got the computer analysis.  It blasted me for 3. Bd3  And the correct more for black was Qe7.  Actually also, rather then sacrfice my Knight strait away better was to bring the Queen to h5!
