Sorry this is over 25 moves. But it is under 30... and against a 2900+ rated GM (my highest rated scalp so far)... and with black... and a pretty cool game, using the humble Hungarian defense to carry out an attack with multiple sacrifices.

Nothing to be sorry about, that was a beautiful miniature. I've seen the Hungarian opening being played more in top events, I guess some GMs are getting tired of the Italian subtleties and the drawish Berlin

Meanwhile my rating in lichess and here has taken a dump, due to a mix of poor time management and chess quality, plus lagging.

Nice game. I'm always surprised 3...Be7 isn't seen more often. I guess it's considered not very ambitious. But on lower levels it can really confuse players with the white pieces.

This is why you don't play half cut.

Another beautiful Italian opening game

Quite beautiful. Interesting how my engine say Black's best is 9.d5 Ne5!? instead of the classic Bf6

Engines are really sus at openings honestly

Engines and computers will never be human.

A very pretty finish with the Knights!  This Hungarian defence seems to be 'on trend' .. it's gotten you your biggest scalp AND a 2nd round Tourni prize .. I'm going to give it a crack myself ;-)

The Hungarian is similar in structures and themes to the Closed Ruy Lopez, which I've played my whole life and feel comfortable in.

Here is another miniature in the same opening, a 2800+ scalp.
