I played a game over the board Saturday that ended in a help mate. 1.h4 in the following position draws. White was rated 2022, but had about 30 seconds for the rest of the game.
And then over 20 years ago, I witnessed the following game. White was 1800, Black 2000. No joke!
It's almost like my opponent wanted to be checkmated.
My friend, maybe the mating move was done by the bishop, however the executioner was the rook (heavy piece). So the rook does the hard work, but Bishop takes the center stage. That is the real potency of religious power, as demonstrated by the last move of the sweet game above.
What a sweet sweet mate!

I realized today just how many queen and rook checkmates I get. It took me a while to find a game where I got another checkmate.
