quick, aesthetically pleasing mate with minor pieces.

Not a particularly out of this world game, but one that pleased me all-the-same. Black made some mistakes early on,( most importantly some king moves) which I took full advantage of. enjoy.

definnetly some big mistakes on your oponents part.  beautiful mate though.

I normally would play 8. Nxf7 (forking the queen and rook) in this situation, but obviously the bishop was the better play.  Did you know you could get mate out of the bishop move when you made it, or was it more speculative than that?

I'd usually have played that as well. I just get slightly annoyed at people when they don't observe normal developing rules, so wanted to teach him a lesson. I was also aware that 8...Kf8 would have stopped my attempt at mate in its track, but I tried it anyway.

I know black was already doomed, but I wonder what told him that it was a good idea to take his King for a stroll into the middle of the board.

as soon as he's played 8...Ke7( the biggest mistake), and I reply 9. Bg5, he's scared of losing his queen. That's why move 10..is Kd6 rather than Kf8, because of the fork between the rook and the queen that 11. Bxf6 would cause.

...I swear I've seen an advert in the back pages looking for just that...Wink

Nice mate, that must have been very satisfying. It also annoys me when people don't develop properly, but only because I don't quite know how to exploit it. Yet. Tongue out
