Recent Game I Won

I felt pretty happy with this win.  I've loved chess all my life, my grandpa was quite the chess champion with games on chessgames, and championship titles under his belt, just recently really started playing though myself on chess.com.

if opponent was smart, would have moved queen

He did mention he sort of blindly moved the queen out, I guess he just hoped for the best on that one.

great game!  you played very solid chess: simply developing your pieces actively and towards the center and later punishing your opponent for flouting opening key opening principles with moves such as ( 1...h5? and 9...h4, not developing his pieces).  Bh5 check was also a very nice "in between move" and tactical shot.

The one "concept" of moves I do not like of yours is 4.  c4 and 5. Be2.   c4 may seem aggressive, but it also gives up control of the critical d5 square.  Notice how the knight just moved back there and had an excellent outpost.  In general, it is very important in the opening to control the d4, d5, e4, and e5 squares.  Conceptually, the way to justify your c4 move is to follow 4...Nd5 with 5. Bc4! or possibly 5. Nc3 (notice how both of these moves fight for control of the d5 square).

In my opinion, it would have been better to leave your pawn on c4 to maintain control of the key d5 square if you wanted to simply develop your bishop to e2.

I agree, in fact it's not like me to even pursue such amount of aggression in play, but that was my point of the game, to bring out the aggressive humor of my grandfather's game vs Dake.

Here's that game if you want to see what I mean:

Btw thank you for your reply, you brought up some very interesting suggestions.

Yeah I had no good reason to bring my queen out. Obviously I did not see the bishop was protected, and would not have traded my queen for a bishop if I had. Vodka does not improve one's game! :)

Ya, I believe we concluded that sobriety only works in your favor if your opponent lives his life primarily drunk.

It's unclear if your comment is an attempt at trash-talk, but sobriety is definitely a required condition for me to play a decent game. Not trying to steal your glory, just saying. :)

Not even a usually-drunk opponent is a gurantee of victory, as good old Alekine proved.
