3 pawns behind but decisive attack

I don't have good memory so I can't play checkers.... wait what was I talking about?

(to all): toggle checkers

Perhaps not the most beautiful attack, but I was happy to land it.

Nice finish. Bishop sac followed a Knight check followed by a Queen check. Eventually the opponent King runs out of escape squares and no pieces to block.

Qh4 wasn't a check

Correct. However, the next check was by the Queen. That was the point I was trying to make rather than next move after Knight check was Queen check.

oh sorry

That's a pretty tactical miniature game, that Stockfish doesn't seem to appreciate. Lots of intermediate tactics and positional coverage, ending with a nice checkmate.

I have actually seen quite many Wayward queen games ending well for white. That's worth taking notes on.

Maybe not my absolute favorite, but I sure like being underestimated

In the actual game (keep in mind I'm panicking) I missed the M2 and took the rook. I had under five minutes left on the clock and I spent a minute trying to calculate Rxh3. I had a feeling it was the right move but I failed to find it. Feeling resigned, I took the rook figuring that even if Rxh3 would have lead to checkmate if I couldn't find it I best not do it. Thus I headed to an endgame, which I won. At the end of the game my opponent had a king on the board and I had a queen, a passed pawn, and my king. That's when his time ran out.

It was a shame that you were under time pressure. I've seen that motif before of a hanging rook in some GM games I've studied. I learnt that taking the rook takes the Queen out of the mating net that you're trying to develop. Recently, I beat a low-level bot in 15 moves by ignoring the trapped corner Rook and continue developing a mating net. Thanks for sharing.

Nice finish. Loved the two Rook sacs on move 12 & 16.
