Smothered mate after queen sac

Hi everyone! For my first post here on chess.com I'll show a little bit of egotism and post the game I am most proud of. Things get interesting from move 21 after I start a rather bitchy trap. I may point that fritz analysis shows the game would have been equal had my opponent refrained from capturing either the bishop or the queen and indeed I capitalized on greed alone to head that queen off the seventh rank. Thank you in advance for your patience after reviewing your hundredth noob smothered mate ;)

Actually Fritz (honestly with my poor level I do not feel competent to evaluate the position) gives a -0,30 evaluation after dxe5, not sufficient IMO to be considered a bad move though it does point that Bd5 followed by ... Bd7 led to an equal game.

As far as analysis goes 9.Qe2 gets a question mark as fritz advocates Be2.

Even though fritz finds nothing much wrong with the other moves I quite agree with your comments.

That was actually quite a nice one, I was expecting some Philidor's legacy. Of course it wasn't forced but it's the kind of move I'd play.

As I've said I quite realize it's a noob thing but bringing about a smothered mate for real felt something special all the same (my first in ~500 games). I had smothered mate in mind since 20.Ng5 and could have wept for joy after Nf6 since it opened the way for the sacs. Also 1288 is the highest elo I've ever been able to beat on playchess so this makes this game quite dear to me.

Smothered mates and Queen sacs are things of beauty.  Congrats and hopefully this will be just the first of many nice combos.

I've seen this mate several times on Tactics Trainer, but this is the first time I've ever been able to pull it off in a game! It's beautiful

Love the triple gambit in the opening, makes it even more impressive.
