a case of weird play. Be2 is slow in the 0-0-0 lines, and this game proves it.
I wonder if 9...b4 is even faster, sacrificing the b4 pawn for the e4 pawn. it seems to be strong, since you can play a strong ..d5 to support the knight on e4.
perhaps white could have improved in the game with 10. Nb3! then play f3 with an equal game.
