The name Family Fork is truly hilarious !....laffing so hard and trying not to show it !
My favorite opportunity for the family fork is when someone is trying a scholars mate on me. Sometimes you can trap their queen and rook and place them in check pretty early in the game. Instantly takes care of the wayward queen problem.

What you have here is a grand fork, not a family fork. Family forks don't have to include rooks, but must include the King, Queen, and an additional piece or pieces. A fork between the King, Queen, and Rooks specifically is called a Grand Fork.

The family fork is when you fork the king, queen and rook at the same time. I've done this is a few games. Here is an interesting one.
