I believe the NM coach said that to you for teaching purposes so u would develop an ability to fight and win even in bad positions and make ur opponent earn the wins or even better ur opponent stuffs up enough for u to win a game u should lose, and to teach u how stronger players finish u off so u can then learn from it and do the same when u get into such winning positions. But again that does not mean they have to finish it quickly for the reason i mentioned before. Keep learning and don't let little things like that annoy u it's just apart of the chess playing journey.

I think it's his reward for being better. Here's my funny dick move story. One time my friend and I were playing a game with another friend online. We had him beat in 15-30 moves and it was clear that we were going to win. Then my friend starts quoting Ghandi  and talking about the importance of non-violence. We then keep checking the King in hopes to capture him non violently until he finally took our queen with his Bishop. We started to argue about this events significance and relation to Pearl Harbor. But we decide instead of going after his major pieces to attack him pawns. Finally we get a message about 60 moves (?) in from our friend "why the fuck are you only going after the pawns?" to which we replied "Dresden yo' ." This madness goes on for sometime (with an epic battle for the last pawn) until we sack all our pieces for knights, the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse, and try to checkmate him with them until we stalemate. Directly after I changed my facebook picture to a motivational which read "the four horsemen of the apocalypse: Fuck you Matt." All the while the Dresden bombing was going on we were listening to Hanity and talking about justice and how accurately Hanity represented it and how killing civilians could be seen as an act of justice.

My point being, it's not bad sportsmanship. Some people are just fucking crazy.

OP, I understand where you're coming from and your hoping for a stalemate is legitimate and wasn't rude.  Rude would be deciding to resign after dragging this out one move away from checkmate.   Four queens is excessive and he was just smearing the win in your face.  Conversely, there's no rule in chess that says he can't queen all his pawns if you don't resign.  I'd do that against the computer or against a friend but against a player that is 600 pts weaker than me ... I guess I'm not that much of a jerk.

Besides, it could be worse (I only do this if my opponent insults me during the game though)

bigfundu

The disparity in ratings still should not have meant such an insult. However, you should know when to call it quits.

 ha, nice

turkey_12345act

That's amusing! Laughing Though it is unsportsmanlike to toy with your opponent like he did, it's much more unsportsmanlike to keep playing that long. =D

SerbianSoccerStar

If i was a grandmaster and the other grandmaster didnt resign like 15 moves ago, i wouldav murdered him with more than just 4 queens, atleast 6 because of how unsportsman like he is for not resigning

+Why didn't u resign b/4 (or at least BY) the second one?  I'm sorry, but u have nothing to complain about.

MissChess88

You were the injured mouse to his cat. It sure was fun watching someone get so completely owned.

jootoo

why not six queens  ?

hackcomic

resign

and it is cool to do so you don't stailmate

LittleTree

did you offer a draw? i bet they would have accepted.

illini977

Isn't this a draw??

I thought 50 consecutive moves with the king ends in a draw

I have no problem with not resigning....I also have no trouble with the other guy getting 4 queens.

IMHO you can't just keep playing on and not resigning AND then complain when the other guy gets four queens.

So I don't agree that not resigning was unsporting...of course getting four queens wasn't either..

The only unsporting act I can see here is crying about it after it happens!
