ratings dont matter. for example, i played at a chess tourney at agoura hills california with a uscf rating of 902, and i played at the under 1500 section. I got a tie for 3rd place at didnt lose a single game. only draws and wins

Avatar of RyanGarner

Yeah, but I'm just happy to see my skills improving. I'm 1056 now.

ratings can go up or down in a heartbeat though

Avatar of The_Gavinator

Not on here, if you beat someone 100 points higher you'll go up like 8.

Avatar of RyanGarner

Yeah, I know. I beat a 1098, and it went up 10 points. I'm like: "10 POINTS! WOO HOO!"

Avatar of The_Gavinator

Yeah, I do most of my playing on chesscube, if you beat someone 100 points higher than you, you go up at least 20, it makes it so your rating actually CHANGES.

So jealous! But, chess.com is my home turf.

in otb chess yes though

Those are my friends, so I like playing them. I don't play for rating, I play for fun; but ratings are fun too! :D
