When the French bishop becomes a beast.

I have played for the first team of my chess club 3 times now. The first time was in May, 2011, when the match didn't matter at all for the standings of our team, and because of a cancellation from one team member, they wanted me (as a 1400) to play. On last board, I lost quite badly to a 1912 player with black. I kept the game going for a while, getting into a rook endgame with 2 pawns down, but no chance.

After my good performance in the club championships last year, they asked me to join the first team as a board 8 (last board) player. I obviously took this chance and in the first round I lost to a 1900 WFM.

Yesterday was the third round (I missed the second round) and, of all the people I could have been paired up against, I had to play the same guy as one and a half year ago, again with black. While my rating had gone up to 1718 by now, his had risen to 1941.

(Time control is 2 hours for 40 moves and then 1 hour for the rest of the game)
