Ding and Gukesh played Classical recently (at the Tata Steel Masters), and Ding won 2-0.
So even though Gukesh is a fan favorite, I believe Ding is still the stronger player ...
I don't have a favorite, though. I'm just hoping for a close battle.

GUKESH IS THE REAL DEAL, GRANDMASTER AT 12 YEARS & 7 MONTHS, NOW 17 HE IS PROVING HOW HARD HE IS TO BEAT, LOSES VERY FEW GAMES!? THINK HE WILL BE TOO TOUGH FOR DING, GUKESH WILL ROMP AND BECOME YOUNGEST EVER WORLD CHAMPION!!
I think Gukesh will win. Not because I think Gukesh is better, Ding is better right now, I think that because Ding clearly has lost his ambition to compete. He seems burned out, much like Carlsen. A player is far more motivated & hungry for the title when they haven't achieved it yet. That's why I think Gukesh will win, he wants it more & will work harder for it.
But..... if they had to play a match & their lives & the lives of their families were at stake then I think Ding would win. In that case..... RIP Gukesh & family

dont forget gukesh is still 17 and still haven't peaked yet, his potential is already crazy to win the candidates at that age. i figure he would only get much stronger within the next 3-5 years, i think gukesh is gonna win this wc easy

Imo Gukesh is potentially the strongest but in the type of competition where we have to play several games against the same opponent, Ding Liren will be more efficient because I think he is a formidable strategist capable of directing his gameplay on his opponent's weak points.
In short I think it will be Ding Liren the winner.

As a Chinese-Australian, I have faith in my people. The championships will conclude with Ding victorious.
I don't know who will win the match, but I am certain that Gukesh will win this poll.
