ngl, gukesh is just completely better

Ding missed mate in 2 in the last tournament from only a slightly worse position. Magnus himself said he seemed out of sorts, and Ding has stated feelings of depression and insomnia. It’s really quite sad. All the best to Ding, but I’m betting on Gukesh for the WC.

Nope! Magnus would need to qualify for and win the candidates tournament to face the current WC, Ding. The world champion is the only person that does not need to do anything besides show up.

Ding is making a comeback after slaying Hikaru.

Why do either one have to win? I know that's the format, that's the procedure. But what if they both resigned, feeling like neither one deserves it. I think most people know the best chess player in the world is, and will not be, the world champion.

They have to win so there's someone that's world champion of chess obviously

I believe if they both resigned he one who resigned first wins

But it could be the other way around where the person who resigns last wins
