Struggling badly!

I've played chess on and off for probably 20 years or so and recently have been watching someone on YouTube and figured I'd give this site a go. I don't know if the overall quality of players is just insane, or I'm reeaally bad?

I read somewhere on here that 1200 is generally a "beginner" standard, and I'm clinging on in the 700s at 719. I had no idea I was so awful at it. Are there any tips or suggestions anyone can give to maybe help me out a little. I've tried watching a bunch of tips and tricks on YouTube and read lots of material on reddit but honestly it doesn't seem to work for me?

Any help appreciated as I'd much rather continue to play, but ultimately there's no fun in anything if you keep losing.

Stop playing speed chess.

I play the 10 or 30 minute games, what would you suggest as an alternative?

You played a G10, lost, made 45 moves, and still had 5:56 left on the clock.

You played a G30, lost, made 38 moves, and still had 17:37 on the clock.

Like i said.  Stop playing speed chess.  And no offense but this question is asked constantly.  And its always the same pattern.  Speed chess players that play nothing but speed chess, and cant figure out why they aren't improving.

I'm not sure what you mean sorry. I've run out of time a few times so are you saying the games are too short? The examples you gave show otherwise.
