ok as i write this i have played 9,872 games. Most of them have either been g/10 or g/5. I plan on reaching 10,000 games on Jan. 19th (2017).

On Jan 20th the day trump becomes president i plan on starting a chess study using the chess books which are presently collecting dust. I plan on doing this until my birthday arrives which is just over 3 months away. I am curious if this will make me a stronger player and even if i will have the disclipline to do this.I honestly don't know how this will turn out but what the heck. I am not sure what i will do after that. I may come back and play longer time controls. I am not gonna decide until my birthday arrives. Anyways this is my plan.Cool

You forgot to count all your bullet, rapid and daily chess games. You are already well over 10,000 games. I get 10,228 at the moment.

Studying for three months sounds like a plan, at any rate. Good luck.

Do tactics 😁

10 000 games 10/0 5/0 and you are still 1450 rated? Did you started from like 800 rating 5 years ago? ... But people make same mistakes in life and they dont improve, so i guess chess is just a game..

Congratulations on 10,000 games, but my question is: do you play because you love the thrill of fast games much, much more than taking some of that time and studying tactics, looking back at the games you've played to see where you made a mistake - perhaps analyzing them with Stockfish 8 on Lucas Chess (free)?

Note that in 5 and 10 minute games, you often have to modify the game of chess to exchange much more frequently than normal, look at shorter combinations than normal, and try to get to an endgame faster than normal.   That makes it harder to progress past a certain rating unless you're doing a lot of work on pattern recognition.  The study of tactics is the key here!

well the fact is that blitz weaken my game it did not improve it. I started here with a rating in the high 1500s but by the end of 10,000 games my rating become a low 1400s. I am sure all players are different but for me my chess strength went down after playing nearlY all blitz. On the other hand i had alot of fun doing it. I very much enjoyed playing in blitz tournaments as well as just regular games.I am in my 60s so my decline may have been age as much as any thing else. No way to tell really. But after reaching the 10,000 game mark i have switched to the to 15/10 games and i am curious to see how  my game will change.
