Hi guys,

Long story short I'd like to improve my chess game.

What is the best way to go about doing this?

Top book recommendations?

How important is opening theory at that level?

Best ways to practice/train/study?

Time investment: How many hours per week?

Some thoughts?

Thanks!

Thank you.

One thing I think would be valuable, which I believe is a core weakness, is developing a structured thought process after each move.

If there is such a thing, could someone please elaborate in some detail on this move to move thought process?

I received some high level training some years ago, but at the time was getting out of chess so never really internalized or trained the concepts and thought processes.

The best way to improve is to know your mistakes and learn from them.

The quickest was to improve for anyone under 2000 is to work on tactics.

Again, I am sure there are many ways to go, but here is the list I use, from my site: http://becomingachessmaster.com/2015/04/09/how-to-choose-a-chess-move/
