What position are they better in which one better to use well knights are good in closed positions and bishops are good in open positions

I think you answered your own question there. It's generally beneficial to use knights to swap off your opponents bishops in open positions, and vice versa.

2 bishops work better together than a pair of Knights.
plus bishops are 3.3333 material compared to Knights that are 3.2 material
