Among the sheiks of Qatar an interesting player will face Grischuk today:
2014 Chess Olympiad (Tromsø)

Maybe Norway will go 4-0 today to make up for yesterday. Now that Saurons playing it might motivate the others to play better.
Maybe Carlsen can win such an equal endgame against a 2200 but I don't think he will do it against an opponent around 2600 like Nyback. But Norway seems to be winning the match anyway.

I was just thinking the same thing about trying to grind out a win by Carlsen. This is an early round so he might not push very hard for the win. But we've all seen him get equal endings like this vs much stronger opponents & win.
It looks like the type of position where it's better to take the draw than trying to win and lose, black win looks like the only impossible result at the moment.

Urkedal is the reigning Norwegian champion and have been playing well a long time. I did not like that he wasnt given a place on Norway 1.
Norway 1 can in no way count on beating Finland, Lie could be on the way to lose again and none of the remaining games are clear.

Dumb question..... Carlsen just drew his game, but his opponent ran out of time on the clock, is this not an automatic win?

@ Pdela, post 55 : watch www.chess24.com/en/olympiad2014 and you will find all info (and more than that)
I didn't get to keep up with round 1, I went to a tournament. I've just browsed through the results. What's the deal with Russia? Are some games postponed? Seychelles was given a 4-0 result, did their opponents not show up? I saw a few 4-0 scores that looked like gifts, did some teams not make it there on time & were forfeited?
It certainly looks like Norway took the day off, they barely scraped by with 2.5, wtf? They were probably hung over.
Magnus took a day off, and the yemenites were quite good. Hammer was too hot and Lie hasnt got it going yet. Today Hammer shal rest , and Lie is supposed to get his game together and get going.
I wonder how Norway 2 can play against Ukraina. I consider Urkedal to be stronger than his rating. Ukraina must be favourites.
