2226 Blitz down to 1500's

I lost this game today in the Ponziani https://www.chess.com/game/live/127412465519

very very rare will someone play that Bishop C5 move on move 5 so it caught me out and I lost.

anyway, looking at this guy's account, I was amazingly surprised and baffled to see that this 1500 Blitz level player is actually a near 2200 level Rapid player, peak 2256 - and peak Blitz player of 2226 with several dozens wins against players above 2000, 2100, 2200.

Is that not a huge discrepency, how in the world do you go from 2226 blitz to 1585!

that's a drop of near 800 points, not making any accusations I'm just posing the simple question as this is practically unheard of. Didn't feel so bad after when I saw he was 2200 Rapid!

very common, 1500 blitz is similar in level to 2200 blitz.
