3 days PER MOVE ?? RIGHT??

I think some players get intentionally pushy to "pee one off" and take your concentration off the game. It does not bother me if my chess games get slow, great time to put some open seeks in or accept some. Well I have met some great people on here and glad to say MOST are patient.Wink

I agreed to a 5 day game with someone and it's annoying me.  It will get down to 59 minutes and he'll go on vacation.  I wouldn't care so much but I am getting sick of looking at his Calvin and Hobbs avatar on my list.  Undecided

I always have plenty of games going and people that use all of their time and some that move so often we can get through a game or two a week.  I couldn't care less.  And I have never noticed you taking too long FF.

People can be rude.

I play really fast, and have lots of games going. If my opponents want to play at my speed, that's good, I often finish games in a single sitting. If he wants to take his time, that's also good, I forget about the game till it pops again with my move showing next to it. I don't really understand why this is even an issue. If you have the time to play 20 moves per day, but your opponent's rate only allows you 5. just make more games.

feralflower, you rock and are totally right.

It's best to just ignore those who become impatient. The only time I will ever ask my opponent to move is if I am in a clearly winning position. I will ask politely if my opponent wants to finish the game at a set time. Sometimes they will finish the game with me over the board in real time. More often they will ignore me. If they draw out the game unnecessarily it's no skin off my back. That's why I play multiple games simultaneously.

my turn to move, first i look at my opponent,s posible next move, try to see all

the angles before i move, this usely takes a few minutes, then i sit and wait and wait, next thing they go off line, little bit annoying, specily when i have my next move worked out,and it,s a good one which is not offton, my moment of gloury gone, but i would never force any one to move, unless jokenly,or had a few,bye

JediMaster, I was playing a15min game on another site with some peasant who kept at me with the "move, move" an' "faster, faster" b/s - I ignored it and when I checkmated him I typed in "fast enough for you ? " - gave me more satisfaction than the win Laughing

Sheamy how are you .... may I suggest you use the NOTES section and write down your plan lol.... (not in the chat window!) or go back through your moves (just use the backspace arrow)... and you will be "refreshed"...timing is NOT always the right timing for your opponent... I spend many hours here but I still leave a few players "in the lurch" for a few hours anyway..... sorry... I AM GUILTY.... charge me.... ha ha

And doing so pleasantly, unflustered, with a smile and good manners makes it sooo much more VICTORIOUS!! Good on YA!! I have to say .... since the presentation of my chess player's poem in my profile I have had NO TROUBLE since! Gosh I kind of miss the "fun".... I have no one to argue with! Only nice patient chess player's now.

Conditional Moves were invented for this.

Disable chat.  :)

What?  Disable chat and it becomes impersonal.  Chess.com's motto is PLAY, LEARN and SHARE.   The share is the personal part.  You can disable chat at anytime.  You can do it permanently in your Account Profile.

FeralFlower's complaint is people place 3 day challenges and then want to play now.  I always put out one day challenges.  They are snapped up in a hurry.  14 day challenges will sit for hours.

Time zones can make it difficult.  FeralFlower and I played A LOT because I have a sleep disorder and stay up late.   I have run into several players who have disabled chat or do not even say hello.  I do not care to play them again.  My choice.

I also have some great friends here at Chess.com.   You can always disable chat - why force that on someone else who may like it?

How is about to add a decade timer?

BoardMonkey

The time pressure in three days per move must be intense.  How do you handle it?

EVANSLT

I'm playing a 3 day per move tournament, and it says 3 days for my opponent, when they didn't move for awhile, I checked to see how much time they have left. It says 47 hours.

It's done it more than once.

On my planet, 47 hours is more than 3 days.

Any better explanations?

EVANSLT

Is it 3 days to move, and extra time to time out of the game?

My first tournament online. Second ever.

EVANSLT

Nevermind, I really am better at math than that.

72 hours not 36.
