4 move checkmate is there only 1 block way
Well... my favorite way of preventing 4-move checkmate is
Then, if your opponent doesn't move his queen, you can play Nf6 and start kicking the queen around. You opponent will waste some moves moving his queen, and during that time you can move your queen out of the way of your dark square bishop and start developing normally.
<Macer75> I thought that the more usual way of fending off that checkmate was, from your beginning, with 3...g6, and on 4. Qf3, ...Nf6.
Interestingly, I'm now looking at a database in which BLACK has more wins from that position than white has (the average BLACK elo is about equal to the average WHITE elo from that position). I suppose that it's still about equal, but really, what is the queen doing on f3...
Put again that animation about how you view the f7 pawn of the opponent...
LOL ! HERE:

I'm not sure which is more common, but I don't play 3. ... g6 because I'm planning on castling on that side, and if I move the g pawn I have to fianchetto the bishop (which probably isn't bad, but I'm just not used to playing that way).
