64 Squares and 1964 Favorite Song

Since the chess board has 64 squares, and since I'm the Musik guy, it's time to pick a favorite song from 1964 to listen to while playing chess.

So, what was your favorite song from 1964? And don't say that you weren't born yet. Laughing

I'll start. My first record as a kid was a Beatles album, and it honestly was my favorite album for a long time. I wore that LP out, completely, listening to it a million times. For you youngsters out there, LP stands for Long Play, the black vinyl disc that goes round n' round. My oldest son didn't know how to work a turntable, as he had never seen one before. I had to teach him how to use it. Laughing

Laughing Umm...Is that your favorite song from 1964? Can you hum a few bars?

Ziryab

The Animals revived a song recorded in 1937 by Georgia Turner, and during the 1940s by Leadbelly. That's the best song there.

I have to shout out for my man, Louis Armstrong, and his fellow Bourbon Street club owner, Al Hirt ( Grammy winner for "Java" in 1964) My favorite song on the list though is probably "House of the Rising Sun." ( More New Orleans!)

Good shout out to Armstron. 1964 was an amazing year for music.  It's probably just me, but I like to makes connections with numbers, 64 squares on a chess board, what happened in 1964.

I wonder what really big things happened in the world on 1964?

Man, that was a close call. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. I remember to the square foot exactly where I was standing, and seeing my mother cry. A very sad day.

Ziryab
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 represented perhaps the most enlightened state of legal equality in United States history before or since.

Looking at that list from post #1 "Keep on Pushing" by The Impressions is a nice song to accompany the woodpushing. Another nice soulful tune is "Baby I Need Your Loving" by the Four Tops.
