7 Bad Habits that Prevent us from becoming better chess player

I'd just like to comment that I think having good manners and good sportsmanship makes someone a BETTER player.

I'd rather not take it as seriously and be thus, thereby keeping it more fun tongue.png

So you can take your narrow definition of Better and keep pretending that MOST players in the world can become better than most chess players in the world, (?!?!?) like all the coaches pretend, and we'll see in which forum chess becomes the winner.

Mr-Raven

I think one thing to add is playing to much daily chess. I don't now about you, but it's making me worse.

Mr-Raven

Also, no offense @Tejas2008, but I think that blitz is perfectly chess. 3|2,3|0,5|5 are all forms of chess, just faster.

Yes I agree. Taking too much time per move is as bad as taking too little time per move.

If one study tactics and strategy, openings and endings, one has advantage in fast games.

Many play Daily and think more than 5 minutes every move. This would become a habit. If one intends to play live or otb, one should not use more than 2 minutes.

I agree to

a user named @win413 was accusing me of being hindu... may be because I beat him brutally.... Another reason why they can't be good players...

Being angry or upset due to losing won't help the intermediate players. Just analyse the game, what bad moves did you make? If you didn't know your mistakes, you will repeat the same mistakes over and over.

One bad habit that is often neglected... getting ample sleep. One should quit all chess activities2 hours before bed time.

Born2slaYer

We should must have 8 hrs of sleep before tournament. It is suggested by India top coach R.B Ramesh

Nice Tejas THOSE WERE THE DAYS... don't have any kids ok xD

If i have 5 hours sleep now I congratulate myself!

bong711

That must be the reason GM Judith Polgar fall out of Top 20. Kids and Lack of Sleep.

Roibabax

I play on internet long games ( 60 minutes +30 second per move) and i play on a real board in my house ( i translate move on internet in the real board, like a OTB game), dont you think its like a real tournament OTB ? What do u think ? TY

wollyhood

This is a list that really ought to include heroin addiction.

We'll keep some Narcan handy.

And I'm tall when I sit down but I still find it so hard to see the whole board properly at chess club

You need to be more precise about to whom you are directing your insults.

wollyhood

Especially when you only joined 11 days ago, and so ironically waffle on and on in your insult .

Perhaps all these smoking hooking men would have benefited more from your insult at some other time, rather than now in this telepathic sense.
