800s as good as 1200s?

So I feel like the rating range 800-1200 are the same skill, and here why I think so.

Right now I am 1100. I am going against mostly 900 to 1200 rated players, but some of the 900-1000 rated players are better than the 1100-1200 players. I have even played against 800s and some of them were better than the average rating I go against, which is the rating range 1000-1100. I just don’t understand why this is! Can anyone explain why?

It is psychological.

Say you are a 800 rated player and you play a 1100 rated player.
You expect to lose, resolve to sell your skin dearly, pay close attention, take time to think, blunder check before you move... and win.

Say you are an 1100 rated player and you play an 800 rated player.
You expect to win easily, relax, play carelessly and fast, make a blunder, and lose.

I totally agree with the comments above. 900-1000 rated players will try their best when they play 1100 rated players. They will always think 'Is there something that I missed?' before every move.

maybe they are supposed to be 1500 but started at 500-800

They might just be players who fell down from 1100 to 900 because they were having a bad day or two. It has happened to me before. Also I think players try very hard when they are playing against higher rated players. I get super stressed out while playing with 1200s.

Players at this level often lack consistency. An 800-rated player might have moments of brilliance mixed with basic blunders, making them seem just as strong as a 1200-rated player in certain games.
